I know this will make an odd Inspired Ideas entry, but I truly find Yves Marchand and Romain Meffre’s photographs of a dying Detroit achingly beautiful despite their grim reality. Maybe it’s a stretch, but one can say they illustrate how even in the worst of circumstances, incredible architecture still has the power to move and to inspire. Wouldn’t you agree that this photo of a 1929 art deco hotel’s ballroom (abandon since the 1990s) is an excellent example? For more shots taken from The Ruins of Detroit go to my Inspired Ideas page or click here for The Guardian’s coverage.
